My First Concert - Isaiah Rashad
On Monday, September 20th, I went to my first real concert with my friend Josh. The concert was at the House of Blues in Chicago, so immediately after school was done for the day, we drove to Chicago. The drive there was stressful, and I wasn't even the one driving. There was one point where I thought I was going to die, because right as a Mustang drove past us going somewhere around 110mph, the music in the car cut out, and a loud static began to play. Thankfully, I did not lose my life, and the music just so happened to cut out right as the car passed us. So we continued onward to Chicago, where we would stay until about 10:30 that night. We arrived in Chicago around 4PM, and the doors to the concert opened at 6, so we had plenty of time to walk around and do whatever we wanted. So, we decided to get food. We went to a pizza place, and ordered nachos and a pretty small pizza. In the end, our total was about $50, which was insane to me. The pizza couldn't have been much larger than a personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut, and yet the pizza alone costed somewhere around $25-30. For as long as I can remember, I have loved Chicago, but having to actually pay for myself while in Chicago makes me reconsider. I still do love Chicago, just not paying for things while there.
Isaiah Rashad Performing
After eating, we went to stand in line for the concert, which was extremely long, and the doors didn't even open for another half-hour. Finally, at 6, the doors opened, and the line began to move surprisingly fast. Once the line started actually moving, we were inside within around 15 minutes. The inside of the House of Blues was absolutely beautiful, and is something that I can\"t even begin to describe with words, so I will include a photo. By around 6:20, we were settled in on the standing floor, and ready to see Isaiah Rashad perform. The concert was supposed to start at 7, so I wasn't too worried about waiting to see him. However, I forgot about opening acts, and I didn't realize how much time opening acts would take. I know this sounds very negative, and I don\"t mean to be negative regarding the openers, because I really did love all of their performances, especially Ray Vaughn's, which I thought was hilarious. I just didn't know any of their music, and I also was just eager to see Isaiah Rashad, especially as time went on.
After a while, Josh and I began speculating that Isaiah Rashad might not actually be real, and that\"s why he hadn't come out yet. But, at around 8:10, he finally come out to the stage and set out some general rules, which all basically boiled down to be a decent human and respect others. Soon after setting out the rules, he began performing his songs. I quickly realized that I don\"t know his songs quite as well as I thought I did, but that didn't stop me from having an amazing time. I would love to go into detail about each and every song he performed, but honestly it has become somewhat of a blur, and almost unreal feeling. I know that I loved every moment of his concert, and I am beyond glad I was able to experience my first concert at such a beautiful venue while watching one of my favorite artists perform.
